I am a singer-songwriter, musician, and performer found mostly between Melbourne (my office) and Castlemaine (my home). My day job has me weaving between publicity, producing works, and project management.
Ange (my partner) and I started Crowded in 2012 to bring our talents together to form a business that works within the arts community.
I’ve spent the last ten years touring with my original music and collaborating with artists from around the world. Last year I worked with Motherboard productions, writing all the music for Shimchong! Daughter Overboard, a full-length Australian-Korean musical presented at APAM. This year I have toured Australia and the UK with Jagged Little Singalong and Mother’s Ruin: A Cabaret About Gin. In September we produced/performed Young Hearts Run Free to a sold out crowd at The Tivoli, an event that we created for the opening party of the Brisbane Festival.
I have no idea how to describe my music style. I get asked often, and I don’t think I ever get it right. Others have suggested “art-folk-rock” and “Australian-gospel” (haha thanks, Jaron). If you have any idea – please do let me know…
A Brief Case of Madness was recorded with the backing of 532 supporters from around the globe via a crowdfunding project. Thank you again to everyone involved, I am eternally grateful for your support, encouragement, and patience. Peter Pan, 6 Years On was recorded from my Brunswick apartment, 6 years after I played Peter Pan in a Montana University production. Majesty & Misery was my debut EP – recorded in Missoula, Montana in 2007 and released to the world via the magic of Myspace! It seems like a lifetime ago. It was. You can read more about these recordings on Bandcamp, where they all live.
Recently I have been composing commissioned songs. It’s a completely different way of writing – but I’m enjoying the challenge. And the results! Get in touch if you would like to know more about the process, whether for a production or as an (over-the-top-but-lovely) gift to a loved one.
